Blessing Prayer for the Teachers’ Conference at the Beginning of the School Year

God, mystery working behind all existence,

bless this school year,

bless the students and teachers and all who work here.

Grant us the spirit of appreciation and respect for one another,

the spirit of connectedness in our community,

and a deep sense of responsibility for the young people

entrusted to our care.

Let grow among us the spirit of consideration and helpfulness,

the spirit of trust and confidence,

the spirit of love for life and for all of your creation,

the spirit of faith in the good within every person,

the spirit of wonder and reverence before the miracles of nature.

Let us help shape a school where people grow up

aware of the originality and uniqueness of their existence,

people who deal with one another with empathy and tolerance,

who accept their life as gift and calling from you,

and who strive for justice and peace in all areas of life.

Let us experience your soul-nourishing and strengthening presence

in the burdens and conflicts of our work.

And so may the life-giving God bless us,

the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
